By accessing or using Fieldnotes, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this service. These terms apply to all users, including free-tier users and Pro subscribers.
Fieldnotes is a knowledge platform operated by Kuza Collective Ltd, a company registered in Kenya. Fieldnotes synthesises academic research papers and other source material into structured, audio-first knowledge experiences. We use third-party AI and text-to-speech APIs to discover, synthesise, and produce audio content. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any generated content, and generated content should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional, medical, legal, or financial advice.
To access certain features you must create an account. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to: (a) provide accurate and complete registration information; (b) keep your credentials secure and not share your account with others; (c) notify us immediately at hello@kuza.io if you suspect unauthorised access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
You agree not to use Fieldnotes to: (a) engage in any unlawful activity or facilitate illegal acts; (b) systematically scrape, bulk-download, or reproduce the platform's content; (c) misrepresent AI-generated content as original research or your own work; (d) infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties; (e) transmit malware, spam, or disruptive code; (f) attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts; (g) harass, abuse, or harm other users. Content is licensed for personal and professional reference only — resale or commercial redistribution requires our written consent.
The Fieldnotes platform, brand, interface design, and original content are the intellectual property of Kuza Collective Ltd and are protected under applicable law. AI-generated Fieldnote content is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. Source academic papers and publications referenced within Fieldnotes remain subject to their respective publishers' and authors' terms. We do not claim ownership over any academic works we reference.
Certain features require a paid Pro subscription. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly basis and processed securely via Stripe. Your subscription will auto-renew unless you cancel before the next renewal date. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until that date. We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods except where required by applicable law. Kuza Collective Ltd reserves the right to change pricing with 30 days' prior notice.
Fieldnotes is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.
To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law, Kuza Collective Ltd, its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Fieldnotes. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Fieldnotes at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@kuza.io. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination shall do so, including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Fieldnotes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nairobi, Kenya. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Kuza Collective Ltd reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of Fieldnotes after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
